Divyahrudayashram is the birth place of the Friends Of the Birds of the Air (FBA), a unique centre which is the home and haven of some 341 the marginalized, abandoned and destitute persons. It is a charitable institution under the aegis of the Missionary Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament (MCBS) – a religious Congregation with pontifical status , committed to the cause of the least ,last and lost in the society. It was founded by Rev. Fr. George Kuttickal MCBS. 

The foundation stone of the Divyahrudayashram  was laid by St.MotherTeresa on 18th Jan 1994.The all – encompassing and compassionate love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ is the inspiration behind this Ashram which takes care of the most neglected , mentally and physically handicapped and street beggars and urchins of the society. Divyahrudayashram was meant to develop the corporal , mental and spiritual wellbeing of the most destitute individuals , who are given refuge here , regardless of caste , creed or gender . Men , Women , Youth and children – from infants to those approaching ninety years of age – make up this exceptional and unique community. Muslims , Hindus and Christians from different regions and speaking different languages – all live together here in peace and harmony .

At present there are 341 members including 89 men ,109 Women ,54 boys 89 girls.  A group of dedicated members consisting 3 priests , 3 nuns, 4 social workers ,2 staff nurses , 9 kitchen staff 8 care takers  and  the remaining lay volunteers render their invaluable services here. Out of the inmates , there are 110 school going children from 1st standard and other children’s are doing professional and Degree courses. The essential spirit and character of the ashram is to lend support , give love and direction that are absent in the lives of the many marginalized and neglected persons of the society. Through education and job training many of our residents are given a chance to break away from the cycle of poverty through education and job. By friendship and love , care , concern and commitment of the dedicated staff , all the inmates here receive great semblance of a family atmosphere.
